We stand sure.

Scots, more than most other groups, are spread across the world. After the defeat of the Highland army at the Battle of Culloden in 1746, the British rulers actively sought to disperse the Scots. A significant number of Scots were forcibly deported to America and various other British territories worldwide. This marked a dark period in Scottish history.

The complete dismantling of the clan system occurred at the Battle of Culloden and was followed by the Highland Clearances in the 1800s. During this time, Scots were driven from their ancestral lands by their own Clan chiefs, who had originally sworn to care for them. As a result, thousands of Scots immigrated to places like America and Australia in search of a better life.

The birth of Clan societies, such as our own Clan Anderson Society (CAS), stemmed from a natural longing among displaced Scots to keep their connection to their beloved homeland alive. While there may be some differences among these societies, their core objectives remain the same:

  1. To unite individuals who share the same kinship.

  2. To foster a sense of kinship and pride within the community.

  3. To gather historical and genealogical records related to our kin and make them accessible to all members of the Society.

  4. To offer information about the Clan's history, ongoing activities, and its members.

We believe that through these objectives, we can maintain the rich heritage and spirit of our Scottish heritage no matter where we are in the world.
